The world population is growing in a very rapid rate. As of October 2010, the world population has crossed the seven billion mark. According to statistics, the world has seen a continuous growth since the end of the Black Death and great famine during the year 1350s. By that time, human population is only 370 million. Since then, population growth increase in a rate of 1.8% per year and peaked at a staggering rate of 2.2% in 1963. Though the rate has declined in 1.1% by 2011, the world population is still unmanageable for most countries. The trend continues as the number of birth outnumbers the number of death. It is now predicted that by year 2050, the world population would reach 8 to 11 billion.
With this in mind, the natural resources of our planet are beginning to be in short supply. With over 7 billion mouths to feed, food scarcity is too obvious. Every year, there are millions of people dying from hunger. This has led many countries to control the birth rate of their jurisdiction such as china, India, and Russia. Such drastic measure only slows down the inevitable increase of population but sooner or later, the density of human population would have either negative or positive impact on the civilization.
There are many solutions that were formulated to address food scarcity. Obviously, farming is the best approach to this. But the arable land is also being depleted. One way to get around this is through greenhouses. There are greenhouses that are made with timber which makes it more natural and cost-effective. These Wooden Greenhouses are specially made to grow plants and vegetables in a controlled environment.

It is undeniable that the enormity of world population has depleted most of natural resources. I appreciate this article about greenhouses because it gives me more awareness of the current world condition.
