Increasing Need for Coaching in both Small and Large Scale Businesses

by admin on January 18, 2012

Coaching is a way of helping a person know his capabilities and enabling him to maximize the use of these abilities in whatever areas he may engage himself in. It is directed toward one common goal. This is to bring out the full potential of a person in a particular field.

There are different applications of coaching which applies to different areas of human concerns. These areas include sports, professional, personal, family, social, spiritual, political, health and many others. There are trained professionals who work as coaches in these areas.

In business, there are two common applications of coaching. These are the personal coaching and management coaching. It is estimated that 63% of businesses in the country consider Coaching as part of employee training and development. Businesses see this as the most important factor in achieving success.

Personal coaching is more of a learning process. Its application in business focuses on discussions to help a person identify or develop strategies and action plans that can better serve the company he is working. The coach strictly monitors how the strategies and actions plans are being implemented by the client. He provides unbiased opinion about how the client progresses in the process. He also gives ideas to help the client achieve the goals.

Management coaching on the other hand helps the client become a more efficient and effective manager. The coach may teach or assist a client in learning tasks and responsibilities delegation, proper communication, time management and many other aspects of managerial works.

Businesses that consider coaching as part of training and development usually hire coaches from outside their company to coach their employees. Effective coaching can help mold a better and more efficient and effective worker for the company.
